URReelNotes

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 18, 2026

Who we are

URReelNotes (https://urreelnotes.com) is a free service, currently in beta, run jointly by two individuals in Missouri, United States, and in India. In this policy, "URReelNotes", "we" and "us" mean the people who operate the service.

Contact for support, privacy questions, complaints and deletion requests: urreelnotes@gmail.com.

What URReelNotes does

You give us a link to an Instagram reel. We fetch the reel, transcribe its audio, read the text shown on screen, and turn it into a note (summary, steps, links, places and dates) that you can search, see on a map, plan trips with and share. URReelNotes currently supports Instagram reels only.

Information we collect

  • Google sign-in. You sign in with your Google account. We request only Google's basic email and profile permissions. Google gives us your email address, name and profile picture, and our sign-in provider (Supabase) stores them with your account.
  • Age confirmation. The date and time you confirmed that you are 18 or older. We do not ask for your date of birth.
  • Profile. A display name, if you choose to set one.
  • What you save. The links you submit and the notes we create from them. A note contains a title, summary, steps, links, the reel's transcript, extracted places (names, regions and map coordinates), dates, a link to the reel's thumbnail image and a search index ("embedding").
  • Organisation and trips. Your categories, saved trips and sharing settings.
  • "Ask AI" questions are sent to our AI providers to produce an answer. We do not store them in our database. If an error occurs while answering, text from your question may appear temporarily in our website's error logs (see "How long we keep information").
  • Technical and diagnostic data:
    • Error reports and sampled session replays (see "Error monitoring").
    • Server logs. Our processing servers log the reel's caption and on-screen text, and our website logs the link you shared along with any text or title shared with it (which can include the reel's caption).

We never ask for your Instagram password and do not access your Instagram account.

How we use information

  • To provide URReelNotes: creating, organising, searching, mapping and sharing your notes, and answering your questions about them.
  • To keep it working and safe: error monitoring, rate limiting and abuse prevention.
  • To reply when you contact us.

When you sign in with Google, we receive only your basic identity information: your name, email address and profile picture. We use it only to sign you in, identify your account and show your name and picture in the app, and we do not transfer it to anyone except the service providers that run URReelNotes for us (see below). We do not sell personal information, do not use it for advertising, and do not share it except as described below.

Content from reels

Reels belong to their creators. When more than one user saves the same public reel, we may keep and reuse the result of processing it instead of processing it again. That result is the note content extracted from the reel itself, never anyone's account information. These results are stored separately from user accounts (see "Deleting your information").

When information is shared

  • When you share. If you turn on sharing for a note or trip, anyone with its link can view a copy of it. Shared pages ask search engines not to index them, but anyone you send the link to can pass it on. You can turn sharing off at any time.
  • Service providers that process information for us to run URReelNotes:
    • Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage.
    • Vercel: website hosting.
    • Google Cloud: our processing servers and their logs, and on-screen text recognition (Cloud Vision), which receives frames from the reel.
    • Google Maps Platform: place search, geocoding, place photos and maps.
    • Anthropic: AI note extraction and "Ask AI".
    • Groq: speech-to-text transcription of the reel's audio.
    • Voyage AI: search indexing for notes and questions.
    • ScrapeCreators: retrieving the public reel you linked.
    • Upstash: rate limiting, using your account ID.
    • Sentry: error monitoring and session replay.
  • Place photos from Wikimedia Commons. Some place photos are openly licensed images from Wikimedia Commons, shown with their attribution. We copy them into our own storage in advance and show them from there, so viewing them does not send your information to Wikimedia, and we do not intentionally send your account information to Wikimedia when we obtain them. If you follow a photo's credit link, you visit Wikimedia's website under its own privacy policy.
  • Content loaded directly by your browser.
    • Maps are displayed with Google Maps, which your browser loads directly from Google, so Google receives technical information such as your IP address under its own privacy policy.
    • Reel thumbnails are loaded directly from Instagram's servers.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety or security of URReelNotes, our users or others.

Error monitoring

We use Sentry to find and fix errors.

  • For about 1 in 10 browsing sessions, and for sessions where an error occurs, Sentry records a replay of how the page behaved. We have configured these replays to mask all text and form inputs and to block images and video, so they show the page's layout and interactions rather than its content. These protections greatly reduce, but cannot guarantee to eliminate, the chance that personal information is captured.
  • Our website is configured not to send default personal data, such as cookies and request headers, with error reports.
  • Our Sentry account is set not to store IP addresses, and it removes sensitive values, such as email addresses, from the fields it scrubs.
  • Error reports can still include technical details, such as the page address, browser type and what went wrong.

Where information is processed

  • Our database (Supabase) is hosted in the United States (US East).
  • Our website runs on Vercel in the United States.
  • Our processing servers run on Google Cloud in the United States (US East).
  • Error reports are stored in Sentry's United States region.
  • Our other service providers may process information in the United States or in other countries where they operate.
  • If you use URReelNotes from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
  • The two people who operate URReelNotes are in the United States and India and may access information from either country to run and support the service.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in (Supabase authentication).
  • Sentry's session replay uses your browser's session storage to group a session.
  • Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser's local storage.
  • We use no advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites. Because of this, we do not respond differently to "Do Not Track" signals.

How long we keep information

  • Your account, notes, trips, categories and profile: until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
  • Our processing servers' logs: 30 days.
  • Our website host's logs: request logs are kept for about one hour, and monitoring data for about 12 hours, on our current plan. Build and deployment records are kept separately under the host's own policies.
  • Error reports and session replays: 30 days.
  • Rate-limiting records expire automatically.
  • Backups: our current database plan does not include backups that we can restore from. Our database provider may still keep internal copies under its own policies, and deleted information may remain in any such copies until they expire.

Deleting your information

  • A single note: delete it in the app. Its shared copy and its edit history are deleted with it.
  • Your whole account: email urreelnotes@gmail.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. You can start this from Profile → Delete account in the app, which opens an email to us.
    • We will verify that the request comes from the account holder, and we aim to complete deletion requests within 30 days of confirming the request, subject to applicable law.
    • Deleting your account removes your notes (with their shared copies, edit history and processing records), your profile, categories and saved trips.
  • Reel processing results (see "Content from reels") are not linked to your account and are not removed automatically when you delete it. If you ask us about the stored result for a specific reel, we will review the request.
  • Copies others made. If someone saved a copy of a trip you shared, that copy belongs to their account and is not removed with yours.
  • Copies of your information in logs, error reports and backups, including those kept by our service providers, may remain after your account is deleted. They are kept and removed under the applicable retention policies (see "How long we keep information"), and we cannot delete them immediately or guarantee their complete removal.

Your choices and rights

In the app you can view, edit (title, summary and steps), share, stop sharing and delete your notes. You can also email urreelnotes@gmail.com to:

  • ask for a copy of, or access to, your information;
  • correct it;
  • delete it (see "Deleting your information");
  • raise a question or complaint about how we handle it.

We will reply as soon as we reasonably can, and within any time limit that applies to us. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

URReelNotes is only for people aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

When you first sign in, we ask you to confirm that you are 18 or older. This is a self-declaration: we do not verify anyone's age.

If you believe someone under 18 is using URReelNotes, contact us at urreelnotes@gmail.com. We will review the report promptly, may restrict the account's access where appropriate, and will delete the account's information in accordance with applicable law.

Security

We protect your information with access controls: our database rules limit each account's private data to that signed-in account, and access to our infrastructure is restricted to the operators. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. For material changes, we will also show a notice on the website and, where appropriate and practicable, email you.
